Aicha Cherif is a 22-year-old director and editor based in NYC. She integrates her documentary and film theory backgrounds into her work with various brands. Aicha conceptualizes, shoots, and edits videos that authentically resonate with contemporary culture.
Aicha embarked on her creative journey at the age 15. Fleeing gender-based violence in her homeland, Guinea, at age one, she found solace in storytelling. Her personal work delves into the complexities of broken families, roots, and the human soul.
After being selected as a Tribeca Film Fellow in 2018, she directed 'I AM THE ONLY ONE,' exploring the effects of family separation on her relationship with her mother. Later that year, the New York Times profiled Aicha, highlighting her work for The Love Vote, an innovative film-based voter turnout platform. She is currently in production on her third documentary, HEAT, which explores the personal toll of the privatization of public housing.
Through an intimate lens, Aicha crafts unflinching, celebratory, character-driven stories that resonate across various media platforms, including branded campaigns, feature films, social content, and beyond. She is currently freelancing as a producer, shooter, and editor in the social media space, specializing in video. Select clients include Topicals, Nike, Amazon Studios, FIFA, and Meta.
